Take a rowing boat or pedalo onto the River Derwent at Matlock Bath. When you've finished there's plenty to see in the town - amusement arcades, fish and chips shops! Just like being at the seaside in the middle of the country.

Matlock Farm Park is a family-friendly open farm. There is a large selection of animals that includes both farm animals and more exotic animals such as meerkats and alpacas. Horse and pony rides can be booking advance.
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is a 9-mile long heritage railway in Derbyshire. The headquarters of the railway centre on Wirksworth station, and services operate in both directions between Wirksworth and Duffield and from Wirksworth to Ravenstor.
Not something that you would immediately think of as a family-friendly day out - but we've had great feedback on this museum, particularly if the weather isn't great. The museum is interactive with tunnels and climbing shafts for the children. The Mine tour last for about an hour and there is panning for gold at the end.
